A MAJOR storm in Dubai has led to major disruption, with a number of planes seen swimming in floodwater at the world’s busiest airport.
Operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB) were suspended for 25 minutes and 21 outbound and 24 inbound flights were cancelled.

Another three flights were diverted to other neighbouring airports, a spokesperson told Gulf News.
DXB is the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic, followed by London Heathrow Airport.
Dubai Police yesterday warned of an impending storm and advised that people steer clear of beaches and valleys as they could flood.
The cops said flooding may occur due to “rains, strong winds, thunder, lightning, and sometimes hail, reducing visibility”.
Dramatic video shared to social media on Tuesday showed flooded roads as many cars were left stranded in deep water.
One clip showed a Rolls Royce sitting still in a rushing river of water.
The man who posted the video wrote on X: “This is not what I expected in Dubai!
“My condolences to the Rolls Royce owner!”
Other video and pictures showed flooded metro stations and the tops of palm trees poking out from a flooded street.
Operations at DXB have now resumed, according to the airport.
DXB wrote on X this afternoon: “Due to the intense storm, operations at @DXB were temporarily suspended for 25 minutes, but have since recommenced.
“There is major flooding on roads leading to the airport and forecasts indicate that the unsettled weather will continue till tomorrow morning.”
The airport reminded passengers to check their flight status with their airline and to allow “significant” extra time to get to the airport.
