The fire broke out at today midday causing huge queues

The inferno broke at the Citubo warehouse, located in the Can Frígoles Industrial Estate, near the road that leads to the Ibiza airport.

Plumes of smoke were reportedly visible for miles, from Sant Antoni and even Formentera.

The fire caused long queues on both lanes entering and leaving the airport terminal as emergency teams were occupying the road, according to local media.

There were no deaths or injuries reported as the warehouse workers evacuated the building in less than two minutes.

The warehouse makes household items, gardening products, furniture, toys and supplies – all mainly made from flammable materials.

It appears that the blaze has also spread to an adjacent building that houses a car rental company.

The head of the Ibiza Fire Department, Miguel Sevilla, has confirmed that the fire originated in the rear of the site spread rapidly.

Firefighters remain on the scene as they are battling to put out the blaze.

Firefighters from the airport and local police have also joined the efforts.
