The bizarre images show what looks like a shining white figure floating above a rocky part of the cliff face.
In an odd religious moment, the sun hits the mysterious figure and it appears to reflect its own light, local media reported.
The hilly region is restricted from tourists but it’s claimed Mother Mary could be seen from afar.
Carlos, the photographer who shared the snap, said on social media: “The Virgin Mary appeared to me in the hills.”
Locals call the Mavecure Hills a natural wonder that hold cultural and spiritual meanings for the Puinave people.
The indigenous group live by the Inírida and Guaviare rivers and earn a living through fishing, growing a root vegetable called yuca and gathering fruit, the British Council reports.
The photograph immediately sparked theories online that the so-called ‘appearance’ was a holy sign.
One social media user said: “The Virgin of Inírida, now the believers are going to arrive.”
Another said: “That is a sign, something.
“It can happen according to the mythological belief of the Puinave people.”
Locals reportedly consider the ‘apparition’ to be a good omen for the local community.
It comes as another weird religious sighting was spotted in Las Vegas, leaving the police baffled.
The mysterious tall mirrored column was discovered along a popular hiking trail in Nevada by search and rescue teams.
To the naked eye the column is hard to spot due to its mirrored and reflective look.
There has not been an official explanation for the bizarre sculpture or how it ended up in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) took to X and conveyed their confusion about the column.
They said: “We see a lot of weird things when people go hiking like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water… but check this out!
