“I’m so sorry we never found you.

“I miss you so much. You will be forever young and forever missed. Love you so much.”

Dad Warren’s message says: “To my boy. Love dad.”

It comes as the family prepares to fly home with Jay’s remains ahead of his funeral.

Jay’s brother Zak, 24, promised to take care of his parents in a heart-wrenching message.

He wrote: “Love you little bro.

“Never in a million years did I think I’d be doing this.

“I’ll look after mum and dad.

“Hope your partying up there with grandad. Hope to see you again some day. Rest easy bro. I love you.”

Police on the island on Monday recovered the 19-year-old’s body from the Masca 29 days after he vanished.

A court confirmed yesterday the body had been ID’d by fingerprints.

Jay had suffered multiple injuries and his death was due to “trauma consistent with a fall in a rocky area”, the Canary Islands High Court of Justice said.

Apprentice bricklayer Jay headed to an Airbnb in the remote area with two men after a night of partying in Playa de las Americas.

He left the holiday let on the morning of June 17 and started the 11 hour walk back to his own accommodation

It is understood he then tragically fell to his death as he made his way across the rocky terrain.

Footage released on Monday showed rescue workers using a helicopter to reach the “inaccessible” ravine where his body was found.

Jay’s devastated mum said the family’s “hearts are broken”
She added: “I just can’t believe this could happen to my beautiful boy. Our hearts are broken.”

Last night, Jay’s tearful friends in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, held each other as they paid tribute to their pal.

They released blue balloons into the sky as the held a vigil for Jay.

Boss of British overseas missing persons charity LBT Global, Matt Searle, has been supporting Jay’s loved ones since he vanished on June 17.

He told the BBC this week that the family plan to fly home with Jay’s body.

Searle told the BBC that Jay’s mum and dad, Debbie Duncan and Warren Slater, are making plans for his repatriation and funeral.

He said: “Debbie has told me if she is not doing something she will just fall apart.”
