British security advisor Ryan Evans, 38, was killed in a separate strike on the Sapphire Hotel in eastern Kramatorsk on Saturday.
It came as Ukraine’s top commander said his had seized 1300 square km of Russia – an area the size of the Brecon Beacons – in its lightning cross-border raid into Kursk.
General Oleksandr Syrskyi said they had also captured 594 prisoners of war to trade for captured Ukrainians.
Up to 3,000 Russian conscripts are thought to be trapped near the border after Ukraine destroyed three bridges over the River Seym.
Gen Syrskyi said Russia was scrambling reinforcements to stop Ukraine advancing – which was weakening other frontlines.
He said: “The enemy drags troops from other directions, in such way weakening them.
“They attempt to create a ring of defense around our offensive group of troops and plan counteroffensive actions.”
Russian sources claimed Ukrainian troops had crossed the border in Belgorod yesterday, east of the Kursk offensive.
The governor of Belgorod said the situation was “difficult” but claimed it was under control.
