The waste was contained in newly-laid sewage pipes before a vortex of poo erupted in Nanning, China.
It propelled a staggering 33ft of excrement into the air like a geyser and splattered its gunk across the motorway.
Dashcam footage showed a billowing cloud of orange appear before globs of poo pounded drivers’ windscreens.
Unsuspecting pedestrians were drenched with human waste as they strolled along the avenue and clips showed some on bikes being forced to cycle through the squalor.
Several vehicles sustained damage and one driver reportedly complained: “I’m drenched in poo, my car is splattered yellow.
“It’s ruined.”
Images revealed the aftermath of the “poo-cano” which left behind a sea of excrement.
The pipe ruptured on a section of the road undergoing work at around 11am on September 24.
Authorities revealed that no one was injured by the explosion but the blast was so powerful that a digger flipped over at the site.
It’s thought the rupture took place as engineers conducted a pressure test during the laying of the sewage pipes.
Officials rushed to the scene to carry out a huge clean-up operation after the blast.
The local authorities are reportedly investigating its causes to prevent similar incidents in the future.
One local said: “You can almost smell this video.”
It comes just a month after millions of dead fish washed up along the shore of a scenic Greek city and it reeked so bad tourists refused to eat out.
Images from Volos, in central Greek region Thessaly, showed floating carcasses creating a silvery blanket across the port.
The stench was so alarming that locals and authorities rushed to scoop the fish away before it got to tourist hotspots.
Trawlers were deployed to collect over 40 tonnes of the dead fish before dumping them into the back of their trucks.
But restaurants took a hit with the smell of the rotting fish so pungent and the sight so repulsive that nobody wants to visit.
Local outlet Neos Kosmos added that tourists were no longer enjoying a coffee at the harbour, where the thick blanket of fish formed.
