Body found in shallow grave near holiday home of missing Brit mum Dawn Anderson as cops hunt ex-murder suspect husband

POLICE probing the disappearance of a British mum have found a body in a shallow grave near her holiday home in Jamaica.

Dawn Anderson, 64, went missing the day after she flew out for a break on the Caribbean isle to join Jamaican partner Andre Morrison, 37.

Morrison – who wed fashion retailer Dawn without telling her he had been a murder suspect and was a gang member dubbed “Mantis” – had been named by cops as their “primary suspect” following her disappearance.

He went to ground after raising the alarm insisting his wife had failed to return to meet him after he dropped her off on an errand on November 25.

The body – which has yet to be formally identified – was found by locals in Roaring River, Westmoreland, where Dawn had a Jamaican home.

A police spokesman said on Monday night: “We didn’t want to disturb any evidence, so we have left a team at the location until tomorrow morning when the body will be exhumed.”

Dawn’s British daughters Charmaine, Krystal and Fiona – brought up in the family home in Mitcham, South West London – are understood to have been told of the find.

They had earlier revealed they were frantic with worry after being unable to contact their mum or Andre – as police revealed he was once a murder suspect.

Dawn – a devout Christian – fell for builder Morrison when he worked on her Jamaican home in Roaring Falls. They married nine months ago.

But neither Dawn or her family knew he had a criminal history and was once arrested on suspicion of murder then freed through lack of evidence.

And her UK-based daughters have been left distraught after claims emerged that he was a known crook once on a police Most Wanted list.

The couple attended Roaring Falls Church together, where bubbly Dawn was a popular and colourful figure.

They also appeared on TikTok videos together sporting matching African fashionwear she imported from Ghana in videos promoting her brands.

But Morrison has vanished now after calling her family to reveal his wife had gone missing on November 24.

Further alarm spread after associates of the missing husband claimed he had confided that he wanted to “do away” with Dawn.

Krystal said in a family statement issued shortly before the body was found: “Our family is seeking your urgent assistance in locating our beloved mother, Dawn Anderson, who has been reported missing in Jamaica under distressing circumstances.

“Dawn, born on 26 June 1960, is a devoted mother of three, a grandmother of five, and a great-grandmother of two.

“She is the heart of our family, and her sudden disappearance has left us devastated.

“Dawn arrived in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Sunday, 24 November 2024, at approximately 3:30 PM and spent one night at Hotel 39 in Montego Bay.

“She was last seen checking out of the hotel on Monday, 25 November. This is the last confirmed independent sighting of her.

“According to her husband of nine months, Andre Morrison ( also known as Angrea Morrison, Mantis or Bollo), from Trelawny.

“Dawn was dropped off at Long Beach Park in Negril, Westmoreland, on the morning of Tuesday, 26 November 2024, at around 8:50 AM to meet a customer.

“She had been selling Ghanaian clothes and accessories to tourists. Andre reported that by 3:15 PM, he could not locate her and contacted one of her daughters in the UK, claiming he had informed the police in Negril and that they were searching for her on the beach.

“We have since learned this is not true, it’s a lie as Negril Police confirmed on 27th November 2024 that Dawn had not been officially reported missing and no one was looking for her.

“Disturbingly, Andre Morrison has since disappeared, taking his nine-year-old son, Sanjay, who is autistic and non-verbal, with him. This alarming development has raised further concerns about Dawn’s safety.

“We know he was driving a white Toyota pro box care number plates unknown.

“Dawn and Andre are well-known in the Roaring River area and attended the Roaring River Seventh Day Adventist Church, Negril Beach and around Sav la mar area.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen or interacted with Dawn during her stay in Jamaica to come forward.

“We are also calling on Hotel 39 in Montego Bay to urgently release CCTV footage of Dawn’s stay and departure, as this information is critical to the investigation

“If you have any information that could help us find Dawn, please contact the Whithorn Police Station at 1-876-957-7713 or email her representatives at Find-dawn@outlook.com

“We ask for this message to be shared widely across Jamaica and beyond. Our mother means everything to us, and we are desperate to bring her home. Your help could make all the difference.

“Thank you for your support during this difficult time.”

Police said they planned to exhume the body later today and conduct a post mortem examination and forensic tests.
