Trump insists America WILL ‘get Greenland’ after fiery 45-minute call with Denmark’s PM as Danes now ‘in crisis mode’

PRESIDENT Trump has insisted the US will take over Greenland as he continues his land grabbing plans, reportedly sending the Danes into “crisis mode”.

His determined statement about the autonomous Danish territory came just days after a fiery phone call between him and Denmark‘s Prime Minister.

Trump boasted that the people of Greenland wanted to be part of the US, he told reporters in Air Force One on Saturday.

The President said: “I think the people want to be with us.”

Trump has been putting the pressure on PM Mette Frederiksen as he floated the takeover plans before his second go at The White House.

Despite reportedly being told to “f*** off” by the Danes, the President continued his claims on the ice island.

He added on Saturday: “I don’t really know what claim Denmark has to it, but it would be a very unfriendly act if they didn’t allow that to happen because it’s for the protection of the free world.

“I think Greenland we’ll get because it has to do with freedom of the world.

“It has nothing to do with the United States other than that we’re the one that can provide the freedom. They can’t.”

Despite Trump’s determination PM Frederiksen insisted Greenland was not for sale or up for grabs.

The pair reportedly had an explosive and aggressive 45-minute phone call last week, according to the Financial Times.

Conversations between the leaders have turned sour despite Frederiksen agreeing to be more co-operative with army bases and mining.

Several European officials revealed the reported hostility in last week’s phone call.

One official said: “The intent was very clear. They want it.

“The Danes are now in crisis mode.”

“The Danes are utterly freaked out by this.”

Another revealed: “He was very firm. It was a cold shower.

“Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous.”

Prime Minister Frederiksen’s office however said it did “not recognise the interpretation of the conversation given by anonymous sources”.

MONEY TALKS

The determined commander-in-chief could have to echo his inner Don Corleone in The Godfather and make an offer they simply can’t refuse.

The issue of Greenland’s ownership was a major talking point at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Charles Gasparino from the New York Post said the general feeling at the event was that it would be a very hard move to pull off – but not impossible by any means.

Several Wall Street investment bankers claimed money could bring Trump’s seemingly outlandish plans to fruition.

They added that America was wealthy enough to make Greenland an offer it could not refuse – much like the iconic scene in The Godfather.

JOINT ATTACK

The President has not been the only member of his family to weigh in on a potential Greenland takeover.

His son, Don Jr, was dispatched to the ice island for an unofficial visit on 7 January.

ISLE TAKE THAT!

EXCLUSIVE by Patrick Harrington, Foreign News Reporter

Trump could storm Greenland and claim it within 24 hours in the “world’s shortest war”, analysts have revealed.

If Trump did invade, America’s military might would end the war in a day, politics professor Anthony Glees told The Sun.

Speaking to The Sun, Glees said Trump will be surrounded by “people who think he is great” – and it means he will be able to go ahead with any wild ideas he has.

Glees said: “In other words, we have to take him seriously.

“And if Trump wanted to take Greenland by force, he could do it in 24 hours.”

Ulrik Pram Gad, a senior researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies, told Politico that “there is no defensive capacity in Greenland”.

And it means it would be “the shortest war in the world”.

The conflict would present an “unchartered” situation after the US entered a pact with Denmark in 1951 to defend Greenland against any attack.

The US has a nuclear base on the island that is constantly manned by troops.

Kristian Søby Kristensen, a military researcher at the University of Copenhagen, said: “Who would the Americans be fighting? Their own military?”

Glees said it was likely that, in the event of a US invasion, “there would be no military response to it because it is unthinkable that any Nato member would attack the US”.

The younger Trump was pictured with some locals wearing MAGA hats in a hotel lobby.

Sources have reportedly claimed some of these people were homeless Nuuk locals who often find themselves outside a supermarket opposite the hotel, according to DR.

Local Tom Amtoft claimed: “It’s homeless and old people who can’t make ends meet who can suddenly eat at a restaurant they’ve never been to before.”

“All they have to do is put on a cap and be in the Trump staff’s videos. They are being bribed, and it is deeply distasteful.”

Despite this, Trump Snr could not resist hyping up his boy’s visit by uploading a glowing Truth Social post.

He wrote: “I am hearing that the people of Greenland are ‘MAGA’

“My son, Don Jr, and various representatives, will be traveling there to visit some of the most magnificent areas and sights.

“Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation.”
