The incident apparently occurred at a Verdi rally – a Berlin-based German trade union, Bild reports.

The union said it did not have any information on the incident.

There is currently a large-scale police operation underway near the central train station and officers are working to verify what has happened, a spokesperson said without providing details.

Unconfirmed reports from eyewitnesses in the horror incident claim there were two men involved in the crowd plough, with one of them shot by police and carried away, according to BR24.

Munich cops said on X: “A vehicle drove into a group of people at the scene. Several people were injured.

“We have a large force on site.

“The driver was able to be secured on site and currently poses no further danger.”

Around 10:30am Munich time the driver is said to have accelerated before ploughing into demonstrators.

Cops investigating are clarifying whether the driver drove into the crowd intentionally or not.

On Thursday, some city employees went on strike to demonstrate for an eight per cent pay increase as well as higher bonuses and three additional days off.
