A cheeky group of joyriders took a plane on a wild journey around a Colombian town
The huge commuter airplane grew a crowd around it
Fascinating footage shows a group of around 10 locals dragging a full sized commuter plane around their small town in Colombia.
The plane is being pulled across the roads at night while the youngsters are seen erupting in laughter and filming the crazy events as they unfold.
The baffling incident happened in the rural town of Turbaco, located near Cartagena in northern Colombia.
One local who was shocked by what he was seeing outside his house said: “It was the first time I ever saw a plane in my life.
Mercy González continued: “Neighbours were looking on, very happy. They took photos and videos, it was a nice experience.”
A second man, Santiago Morales, shared a clip of the plane pulling shenanigans on Facebook with the clever caption: “If it’s raining snow for you guys in the US, here in Turbaco it’s raining planes!”
When it was found by the group it was sitting lonely in a field near a half-built housing estate in the neighbouring municipality of Arjona.
The mischievous locals who first laid eyes on the plane in the field decided to take it on a grand tour of their town, impressing the locals but leaving many confused where it had come from.
With the massive plane seemingly coming from nowhere rumours started to fly that it had popped up after a plane crash nearby.
But this was quickly squashed when local media said the fuselage of the Dornier 328 commuter airliner belonged to a savvy businessman after he got it after the plane went out of service years ago.
The restaurant owner saw his chance to create a fun, innovative concept and made the plane a decorative feature for all to enjoy.
The plane then ended up in the hands of a property owner who wanted it to become part of their new country house.
Laura Pérez, the architect of the Campo Alegre housing project, said: “The plane fuselage was moved to one of the lots on behalf of the client who wants to integrate it into the design of their country house.
“We understand the plane went out of circulation many years ago and has served its purpose.”
The plane was safely returned to the housing estate in one piece later on in the same night with no further action reported as being taken.
Recently, a man revealed he now lives inside a converted, abandoned Boeing plane.
Bruce Campbell, 73, has always been a fan of planes but took this love one step further when he decided to live out his dream living inside one.
The clever idea also saves Bruce money as he pays just $220 (£182) a month in land taxes, along with another $100 (£82) to $250 (£207) for electricity.
A woman has also converted a Boeing 727 passenger plane into a three bedroom home with a huge hot tub and bath in the cockpit.
Here are some other Boeing 747 conversions which includes hotels, party pads and cafes.
