A witness claimed one of the vehicles smashed into the back of the other bus in the Manavgat district in Turkey which is a popular tourist attraction.

It then swerved off the road and flipped over – tossing passengers out of their seats.

An Irish tourist was also hurt, along with three staff working for the tour company, according to reports.

Several victims were given first aid at the scene, before being taken to nearby hospitals.

Footage of the aftermath showed people being treated while lying on the floor while other stunned passengers sat with blankets around their shoulders.

A bright pink overturned safari bus – with the words “Panter Safari” painted on the back – was left at the side of the road.

Several companies offer trips in the region to tourists wanting to see the surrounding countryside and other cultural sights.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are providing consular support to a number of British nationals following an incident in Turkey, and are in contact with the local authorities.”
