George Clooney calls on ‘friend’ Joe Biden to QUIT White House race days after seeing ‘depleted’ president at fundraiser

HOLLYWOOD megastar George Clooney has called on bumbling Joe Biden to quit the 2024 US Presidential election race.

The loyal Democrat, who has hosted several fundraisers for Biden, said the 81-year-old can’t win the “battle against time”.

Critics have called on Biden to quit his presidential candidacy

In his critical op-ed published by the New York Times today, the actor, who met Biden three weeks ago at a fundraiser, said: “It’s devastating to say it, but he is not the same man he was, and he won’t win this fall.

“I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as president. I consider him a friend, and I believe in him.

“But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time.”

Clooney held leaders of the Democratic party responsible for ignoring “every warning sign” of Biden’s declining physical and mental health.

He also added loyal voters of the Democratic party “collectively hold our breath or turn down the volume whenever we see the president, who we respect, walk off Air Force One or walk back to a mic to answer an unscripted question”.

The star has now joined the list of critics who have advised Biden to step down from the upcoming November elections.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also today stopped short of extending her support to Biden when asked if she still backs him another term.

At 81, Biden is the US’ oldest president in history and has long been the subject of discussions around his mental sharpness.

The stammering commander-in-chief is increasingly being ridiculed for making a string of gaffes on various occasions – including the disastrous presidential debate with Donald Trump.

White House staffers even gave Joe Biden a detailed guide on how to move around during public appearances.

Many lawmakers as well as US citizens insisted on Biden stepping down from the election race, claiming he was not physically fit for the high-profile position anymore.

Amid all the speculations, however, Biden announced he is still running for office – and aims to beat Donald Trump.

He wrote in a letter posted to Instagram: “Now that you have returned from the July 4 recess, I want you to know that despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to bearing Donald Trump.”

He said he was “not blind” to people’s concerns about the election, but affirmed he was aware of the work it took.

Clooney has been a long-time friend and crucial supporter of Biden who has endorsed him as well as the Democratic party on many occasions.

The Hollywood star has organised many fundraisers – and was honoured for his loyal support at the Kennedy Center Honors in December 2022.

His influential de-endorsement could now severely impact Biden as well as his party.

Biden’s recent gaffes

PRESIDENT Joe Biden’s gaffes have increased at an alarming rate over the past few years.

He made a disastrous performance during the recent presidential debate against Donald Trump.

The commander-in-chief struggled to complete his sentences and seemed to lose his train of thought during his arguments in the first presidential debate of 2024.

Biden alarmingly described himself as a “Black woman” during a radio interview with Philadelphia station WURD on Thursday.

“I’m proud to be, as I said, the first vice president, first black woman… to serve with a black president,” Biden said, appearing to confuse himself with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden previously served as VP to President Barack Obama, the US’ first black president, which is likely the source of his confusion.

The president also attempted to go off-script and insult rival, Donald Trump, while addressing military families during the White House’s Fourth of July barbecue.

While Biden came in strong, he fumbled his word and came crashing down.

“By the way, you know I was at that World War I cemetery in France and a – the one that one of our colleagues, a former president, didn’t want to go and be up there,” Biden said in an apparent dig at former president Donald Trump.

“I probably shouldn’t even say that. Anyway,” he continued as his voice dimmed.

After shocking the audience, he quickly went back on script and tried to get the energy back up.

Biden even admitted that he needs to limit his work hours and get more sleep – even if means missing important events.

Biden bizarrely admitted that he almost fell asleep during the bumbling screening – which saw members of his own party call for him to quit.

In the footage shared on Trump’s own Truth Social network, he claimed Kamala would be taking over from Biden despite repeated comments from his camp which insist he won’t quit.

Donald Trump comprehensively defeated Joe Biden in the showdown by a huge margin, per CNN polling
