Police say the tragic incident happened because the driver had ignored the rule that children under the age of 12 and less than 145 centimetres tall are advised not to travel in the front and especially not to travel without a specially fitted child seat.

The two-year-old named Melania was being driven in an Opel Zafira driven by her mum’s friend down a village road when the car slipped and knocked into the streetlight in Vinnytsia in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia Oblast on 15th September.
