Brit, 29, ‘kills pal, 58, with fatal punch which smashed his head into pavement’ in drunken row outside Pattaya hotel

AN Australian tourist has allegedly died after smashing his head on the pavement from his Brit friend throwing a fatal punch.

The 58-year-old had been drinking beer with the Brit, 29, when they had a drunken row in front of their hotel in Pattaya, Thailand, before dawn.

The pair sparked panic as they came to blows in the street on September 27 as terrified locals watched.

The Brit reportedly threw a punch that caused the Aussie to smash his head on the pavement.

Medics were called to the scene at around 4:30am, where they found the Australian man on the ground with no pulse.

They performed CPR and rushed him to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital, but they said he could not be revived.

Police Major Tanongsak Inphadung of the Pattaya City Police Station confirmed the Aussie’s tragic death and identified his Brit pal as the suspect.

He said: “The suspect still denies the charges, but he cannot contest us because we have complete evidence.

“We have security camera footage from the restaurant and four witnesses who drank together with them.

“Tomorrow, we will request the court to detain him at Pattaya Remand Prison. He refused to say anything, even though we had an interpreter, and he will get a lawyer to defend the lawsuit.

“The suspect was drunk at the time. We need to wait for the autopsy results to see if the deceased was also drunk, but he was seen drinking for hours before the incident.”

The cause of death is still pending and the reason for their fight has not been clarified by officials.

The Foreign Office has been approached for comment.

Pattaya has long been associated with a reputation for sex tourism, a significant aspect of the city’s image internationally.

This reputation stems primarily from the city’s vibrant and extensive nightlife, particularly in areas like Walking Street, where bars, go-go clubs, and adult entertainment venues are concentrated.

Former fishing village Pattaya became popular with American troops on “rest and relaxation” breaks in the 1960s when the US military had bases in Thailand.

This led to the development of a nightlife scene catering to their desires, which gradually expanded over the decades to become a major part of Pattaya’s economy.

Officials have made progress in gentrifying the region with family tourism projects but a ravenous nightlife industry and corrupt police have hampered their efforts, with undesirables from all nations still attracted to the seedy city.

It comes after a British dad died after being struck on the head with a vodka bottle while on a stag do in Prague.

David Richards, 31, tragically died in hospital on Saturday after the “blind attack” in the Czech capital’s streets the night before.

A father of three from Wales, David’s family have said his provisional cause of death was blunt force trauma after being struck on the back of his head, Wales Online reported.

His devastated family have been left to remember him as “an absolutely amazing father, partner, son, brother, and friend”.

David, nicknamed Dai, was dad to three young kids – Aurora, four, Bear, two, and Vienna one.

David’s sister-in-law Tammy Sheehan, cousin Gemma Thomas and partner Jola Simms revealed he had returned from a family holiday on Thursday, then jetting to Prague on Friday for a pal’s stag do.

By 10pm that night, Jola and Gemma both received a horror call from David’s friend Nathan, who informed them he was in a critical condition.

Family members flew into Prague, hoping David would regain consciousness.

But by Saturday afternoon the heartbreaking decision was made to switch off life support machines.

His family insisted he wasn’t in a brawl but rather fell victim to a blind attack.
