Horror moment skydiving instructor walks to his death off cliff in front of horrified thrillseekers in stunt gone wrong

THIS is the chilling moment a skydiving instructor disappears from a cliff in Brazil in a stunt gone tragically wrong.

Jose de Alencar Lima Junior, 49, is seen in the clip vanishing into the void without a trace at Pedra Bonita in Sao Conrado.

The expert was attempting to speed fly on November 3 when his parachute failed to fully open and he tumbled 250m into the forest below.

Horrified witnesses watched as the Brazilian failed the precarious manoeuvre.

Jose’s sister-in-law had no explanation for the fatal accident.

She said: “We have no idea what could have happened. But he was a professional skydiver for 20 years. He was experienced.

“What happened was an accident.”

She went onto add that she was unsure if Jose jumped from the dangerous cliff, or if something else happened.

Some witnesses said that before falling he had tripped on a hole.

The nature of Jose’s passing is being investigated by police, who believe his equipment might have been faulty.

Jose fell 250m and smashed into the rocks at the bottom of the cliff.

Four hours passed before rescuers were able to locate his body.

Reports say he was already lifeless by the time they found him.

WAS JOSE’S JUMP PLANNED?

Paragliding flights at Pedra Bonita are carried out from an official ramp and access to the site is controlled by the Clube Sao Conrado de Voo Livre (CSCLV), which has accredited instructors.

CSCLV have criticised Jose’s location choice before his death, suggesting that the equipment was not faulty.

According to the CSCLV, the pilot accessed Pedra Bonita via a trail and jumped from an inappropriate place.

The CSCLV stated: “The pilot did not use the ramp to take off. The spot he chose for takeoff is bad and even prohibited.”

CSCLV were also quick to distance themselves from responsibility for the horror fall.

They continued: “The CSCLV is not responsible for the incident. With that clarification, may the pilot rest in peace.”

It should be noted that in the haunting footage, Jose does not appear to jump from any kind of pre-built ramp.

Instead, it looks like he chooses to take off at a random place on the cliff.

This could suggest that CSCLV were correct, and that Jose did jump in a wrong place.

However, it is not known how random Jose’s decision was to leap from that specific point.

The clip doesn’t show any of the witnesses paying at attention to Jose, possibly giving credit to the theory that his jump was unplanned.

Jose was an experienced skydiver of two decades, and had also served as a paratrooper in the Brazilian Army‘s Parachute Infantry Brigade.

He lived in Germany and was only back in Brazil to visit family.

Investigations continue.

WOMAN’S PARACHUTE FAIL LEADS TO DEATH

Recently, another awful skydiving incident occurred, taking the life of a 40-year-old female, also in Brazil.

Pictures capture the moment Carolina Muñoz Kennedy plunges to the ground as onlookers watch on in horror.

They begin with the skydiver spinning into chaos – presumably due to the reserve parachute being twisted.

As altitude diminishes, for a moment it looks as if Carolina is able to untwist the parachute – but she proceeds to near closer and closer to the ground at a terrifying pace.

She attempted to make an emergency stop, according to witnesses, but hit a road in Boituva on November 2.

Carolina succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

She had turned 40 just two days before the horrific mishap.
