A RUSSIAN soldier gunned down his own commander with an AK-74 assault rifle after he was teased for his Ukrainian-sounding name, it has been alleged.
The two fighters were guarding the occupied village of Knyaze-Grigorivka in the Kherson region of Ukraine when the deadly chaos unfolded.

Sgt Mikhail Khokhlov, 37, killed Lt Ivan Krivosheev, 37, while another Russian soldier, 32-year-old Alexander Lykov, suffered serious wounds as a bullet passed through his neck, according to reports.
Khokhlov, who is from Nikolsk in Russia’s Penza region, was reportedly mocked by his comrades for his surname, which sounds like the word “khokhol” – an ethnic slur for Ukrainians.
He is said to have become upset and unleashed on his victims, killing Lt Ivan Krivosheev, a platoon commander with the first battalion of the 1,218th motorised rifle regiment.
Khokhlov, Krivosheev’s deputy, was reportedly detained as a murder suspect and handed over to his regiment’s military police.
The three men were drinking together before the brutal killing, it has been reported. Each was married with children.
More than 302,000 Russian soldiers have been killed and wounded since beginning their full-scale invasion of Ukraine, according to recent UK figures.
Russia is said to have suffered its biggest losses of the year in a failed push to surround Avdiivka, where videos showed tanks blown up and bodies strewn on the battlefield.
New footage captured the sick moment a number of Vladimir Putin‘s troops appeared to execute surrendering Ukrainians who had their hands up.
The Russian brutes were seen in grainy aerial footage allegedly gunning down the Ukrainian soldiers as they emerged from their trench, in an incident now being investigated by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office.
Russia did not immediately comment on the alleged barbarism.
It comes as Putin bolsters his army invading Ukraine by recruiting more convicted murderers and rapists.
He is increasing his country’s regular troops by 170,000 to 1.32million, pardoning criminals in return for their fighting.
One soldier was exempted from jail for killing a 18-year-old waitress, Ekaterina Skvortsova, and throwing her head out of a window.
He killed another woman after returning from Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned Russia’s bloodbath could spiral into World War Three.
Speaking to The Sun from his office in Kyiv, Mr Zelensky warned: “Ukraine today is in the centre of these global risks of this Third World War.
“And I really think that Russia will push until the United States and China together will tell them very, very seriously to go out of [our] territory.”
