Verity cargo ship collision updates — Dead body found and two rescued as hunt to find 4 ‘missing’ crew members continues

ONE dead body has been found and two people have been rescued in a search and rescue mission after two cargo vessels collided in the North Sea.

A total of seven people were on board the British cargo ship Verity when it collided with another ship, the Central Command for Maritime Services said in a statement, adding that a search was ongoing for the remaining four missing crew members.

An earlier statement from the authority said the Verity was believed to have sunk.

A P&O spokesperson told The Sun their cruise ship Iona has joined the search for survivors and is also providing medical help for anyone in need on board the cruiser.

The Verity and Bahamas-flagged Polesie collided at around 5am on Tuesday roughly 14 miles from German archipelago Heligoland, it is unclear how they crashed.
