Elon Musk blasts Donald Trump’s ‘big, beautiful’ tax and spending bill branding it a ‘disgusting abomination’

ELON Musk has slammed Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful” tax and spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination” on X.

The tech tycoon’s public attack on one of the US president’s signature policies comes just days after he stepped down as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The bill, passed in May, includes multi-trillion dollar tax breaks and increased defence spending while also allowing the US government to borrow more money.

Mr Musk, who campaigned to reduce the national debt, used his X platform to fume: “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore.

“This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.

“Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.

“It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.

“Congress is making America bankrupt.”

Musk had previously called the bill “disappointing”, claiming it undermined the cost-cutting work of the DOGE.

Mike Johnson, speaker of the US House of Representatives, soon after said: “With all due respect, Elon is terribly wrong about the one big beautiful bill.”

It comes days after Mr Trump sent what he has called the “big, beautiful bill” to Congress, where it is awaiting approval from the Senate.

If passed, it would see America’s national debt ceiling raised by $5 trillion (£3.7trillion).
