The unnamed Englishman was located and arrested on the popular island on Saturday, according to local media.

He was wanted by British authorities for allegedly sexually abusing young children and committing violence against them.

The Brit was taken to the Dodecanese Prosecutor’s Office in Rhodes, which is proceeding with his extradition to the UK.

Interpol has a Most Wanted list called Red Notices identifying and describing fugitive persons who are wanted by a national jurisdiction.

A Red Notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.

There are currently 7,000 people worldwide who have Red Notices served on them by the international criminal justice organisation.

It comes just a few months after the body of a missing female hotel worker was found wrapped in a plastic bag on the island.

The body of Anastasia Patricia-Rubinska, 27, from Poland, was discovered in June after a week-long hunt, in a salt marsh close to the chief suspect’s home.

Police said the young woman who was allegedly raped and strangled to death was forced to send a reassuring message to her boyfriend.

The 32-year-old suspect, named as Salahuddin S admitted to having sex with the victim at his home and to dropping her off somewhere else later on.
