A source close to the case told the Mirror: “The agents and attorneys who have, for years, worked diligently looking into Andrew’s friendship with Epstein are beyond frustrated.

“They’re angry that the probe has been parked.”

No new evidence has been presented to the investigation for some time and so the case had stalled, the source also said.

FBI agents are now spending their time investigating other alleged high-profile rapists like Sean “Diddy” Combs, Mirror sources went on to say.

Combs is facing criminal charges in New York for racketeering and sex trafficking and over 100 people have come forward in civil suits.

The agency is using its resources to deal with “hundreds of potential leads” that have come forward over the last month.

The Duke of York visited New York in 2011 shortly after Epstein was released from jail for child sex offences.

Epstein killed himself in 2019 while awaiting trial while Maxwell, 62, is serving 20 years for sex trafficking.

Geoffrey Berman – the US attorney who indicted paedo Epstein – slammed Andrew in 2020 for providing “zero cooperation”.

The decision comes after the Duke of York’s disgraced pal Ghislaine Maxwell had her appeal against sex trafficking convictions thrown out.

Court documents claimed that Andrew allegedly had an “underage orgy” while staying on Epstein’s private island.

An unnamed Jane Doe – widely understood to be his accuser Virginia Giuffre – was allegedly “forced” by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to “have sexual relations” with Andrew, the docs claimed.

She was allegedly told to “give the Prince whatever he demanded”.

Andrew eventually settled out of court with Giuffre agreeing to a payout of up to £12million to settle the sexual abuse lawsuit he faced.

As part of a gagging clause in the settlement, Andrew is prevented from repeating his claims he has no recollection of meeting his accuser and has agreed to never again deny claims he sexually abused her, reports the Telegraph.

Car crash interview

The Duke had sat down with Emily Maitlis for a wide-ranging interview in 2019, and discussed his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

During the notorious “car crash” sit down, the disgraced Prince Andrew claimed he could not have had sex with 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre because, on the day she alleged it happened, he was at Pizza Express in Woking for a kids’ party with daughter Beatrice.

He also insisted that he could not have “sweated profusely”, as was claimed, due to a medical condition he said he developed while serving in the Falklands War as a Navy helicopter pilot.

Andrew also defended his relationship with Epstein, saying that knowing the financier had “some seriously beneficial outcomes”, but added that his reason for meeting him in 2010 was to “put an end to the friendship”.
