Far-right chainsaw-wielding Javier Milei sworn in as Argentina’s new president

THE far-right chainsaw-wielding Javier Milei was sworn in as Argentina’s president today — after proposing drastic measures to fix the country’s worst economic crisis in decades.

The wild-haired former TV pundit is known for tirades against China and the Pope.

Former TV pundit Javier Milei, self-claimed ‘anarcho-capitalist’, has officially become Argentina’s head of stateEPA

The so-called tantric sex expert brandished a chainsaw during a campaign event, smashed a central bank-shaped piñata on TV and performed an opera about public spending dressed as a superhero.

The self-claimed “lion” and “anarcho-capitalist” now aims to solve the country’s 200 per cent inflation rate.

He has pledged to get rid of the central bank and replace the peso with the US dollar.

But Mr Milei will need to negotiate with other parties to enact his plans.

His libertarian coalition only has a small bloc in the country’s congress.

Mr Milei seeks to warm ties with Brazil’s president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The Argentine president has previously slammed Mr Lula da Silva as “corrupt” and a “communist”.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky headed to Buenos Aires to witness the swearing-in of the new president.
